Persuasive writing

In class we have been learning persuasive writing, persuasive writing means you want something from the person that you are writing to. Here is an example:

School should be voluntary

I strongly believe that school should be voluntary, here are some reasons.

You could be too tired to come to school so you don't sleep in class. You could also be sick so you don't want to spew on anyone. You could come to school three times a week so you can still learn new things.

If we have school to be voluntary we could go on holiday for two days without family and friends to explore new places.

That is why school should be voluntary.

Manager of Cadbury Chocolate Factory

Dear, MR Willy Wonka

I wish to apply for the manager of Cadbury Chocolate Factory.

I got told by the Oompa Lumpas that they hated being not allowed to eat the chocolate that they made. So I will give them a quarter of it to share.

I also got told by the Geese that they don't like laying golden eggs unless they get some of it. So I will give them what they want.

I have sold way more chocolate bars than you and it will be good if you retire so you don't have to work.

A lot of people in my family think that I should own the Cadbury Chocolate Factory because they all like me and I think it would be a great job for me too.

Jibboo

On Thursdays we have Jibboo, Jibboo is when you have fake money and you buy real things to keep or eat. We have Jobs to get paid, I am Hannah's Assistant  and I get paid 30 snidges. It is run like the real world. I have a business where you sell real stuff  and when you split up [normally you wouldn't] your group splits the money in half. Jibboo is really fun a teacher  at our school taught us about it. A year 5 and 6 class do it which are room  7 & 8 we really like buying stuff. We can also be rich with fake money.

Art Work

This is my Art Work, I made this art work with Mrs Kahukura  when we were checking it out with our class for two days, that is why I chose Visual art. The best thing I like about my art work is the Sun, because it stands out on the Korus and it looks like it makes them grow.
My favourite thing to use out of Pastels and Paint is Pastels because paint spills, but pastel doesn't.

Inquiry Relection

In term 4 we have been doing the arts which are, Visual Art, [Photography, Sculpture & Wearable arts] Music & Drama. I am doing Visual Art & Mrs Kahukura is taking it, Mr herring Is taking Sculpture & Photography. I am doing Wearable arts in Visual Art. My group is Devon S, Emma R & myself [Emily] we are making a leaf skirt with a birds nest hat with eggs. The key Elements for Visual Art  are Line, Texture, Colour & Space. I like the arts this term. Especially Visual Art. We have been learning this for  Inquiry which I really like.

Pet day

On the 7th of November we had a pet day. On pet days you bring your pet or toy to school,  and you get it judged. Also you can bring sand saucers, Minature gardens, Vege art & Baking and it will get judged aswell. You can buy some cool stuff and it is really good to get your hair done and your face painted. Well any way it was the best day, because you got to buy sherbet and my hair was really cool because it was done by the awesomest hair dresses ever. Thank you for coming STREAK A HEAD we really give a big thank you. Well just before prizegiving we had a Ukelele group then, we had a Aerobics groups then, Recorder group then, Drumming to finish. then we had prizegiving. It was 23 degrees that day WOW that is hot!

Jibboo

On Thursday the 23rd of June we had our 3rd Jibboo. Jibboo is where you have a business and sell things, like ice-blocks, brownie, juice, smoothies, home-made containers and pencils, bookmarks and popcorn. You have to pay sugar tax if you have something made out of sugar or has something with sugar added in it. Gambling is when you pay to win more money!  NZ dollar is when you buy something from the shop and sell it at your business. We had lots of fun at our Jibboo!

Market day

On Monday the 11th of April it was market day. It was a normal day
except we set up instead of learning. At 12:30 we started market day
Nicole and I worked at Sarah and Kirsten's stall. It was a really fun day
and I won the raffle at the stall that I was working at.

My Acrostic poem

Everybody wants me to spell words.
Milly or Millicent would of been my first name.
Ice-cream yum!
Lollies are delicous.
Yellow is my least favourite colour.
Dad tickles me a lot.
On rainy days we have milos.
No-one is horrible to me.
Always on task.
Laughs most of the time.
Deers are my favourite animal.
Sentences are fun to write.
On and off is what to do when I am in the dark and light.
Never going to go in a tornado.

Disaster

One evening, I was walking down the street, my family was at home I left at 6:30pm half an hour after tea.
There were a lot of cars  going out of town one person stopped and put down the window and I asked the man where he was going,  he said "out of town", "why" I asked he answered "because there is an earthquake coming in 10 minutes ." "oh, no", I said "my family." So I ran home it was too late I got pushed to the ground then I was wondering what it was then I got a thunder bolt of lightning it was an earthquake. I didn't care if you weren't supposed to run when an earthquake happened,  but I had to. So I ran all the way home I went inside I looked  everywhere they weren't there they just got hit so that means I should look under bricks and rocks I found everyone, but they weren't hurt so we quickly ran to the big buses or trucks and drove as fast as we could  we got there perfectly we had to stay at a flat that was free in 
Dunedin. Finally we got there we lived in the flat forever.

Teachers only day

Hi

On the 7th of april was teachers only day it is when only the teachers go  to school and
listen to things that they need to do. That was a fun day.

Habbits of mind

Hi it's me I'm posting about  what happened at school I'm learning habbits of mind
well the teacher put out pebbles in front of the people sitting on the table and we talked about habbits of mind then we ate them.  We shared them between the kids who were
sitting at the table.

Epals

Hi, it's me again I'm just here to say about epals. Epals is going along perfect I've got a girl called Callista Hopkins I hopefully get my letter back from her. I'm going to hopefully send to her again and again.
